Prime Minister Krivokapić expressed gratitude for the solidarity shown by the Republic of Croatia towards Montenegro, deciding to donate ten thousand doses of vaccines. He said that he hoped that both countries and the region would get out of the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic as soon as possible, and that the upcoming summer season would be successful enough for both countries whose economies are strategically leaning on tourism. The Prime Minister of Montenegro pointed out that he had previously cited last year’s example of the Croatian tourism economy, as a model of how Montenegro must and can do business in the new circumstances.
“We want to improve cooperation with all partners, especially with neighbours such as Croatia, with which we otherwise have exceptional cooperation in all areas. I hope that in the future, in the spirit of the European agenda, we will resolve the issue of Prevlaka bilaterally and by forming the Commission”, said Krivokapić.
Prime Minister Krivokapić also briefed Croatian Minister Radman on the priorities in the accession negotiations as well as on the complications that arose during the process of amending the prosecutorial laws, which were initiated by the parliamentary majority, with the aim of closing Chapters 23 and 24 as soon as possible.
“In that direction, we expect the help of the Republic of Croatia, so that Montenegro becomes the next member of the EU, and that our values become an integral part of European values,” Krivokapić emphasized.
The Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia, Gordan Grlić Radman, said that Croatia is ready to share with Montenegro all its negotiating – accession expert experiences, especially in the part concerning Chapters 23 and 24.
“Croatia does not forget the help you sent us after the devastating earthquake that hit Petrinja and its surroundings. I also convey to you my personal gratitude and greetings from your colleague, and our Prime Minister Andrej Plenković. In the spirit of good neighbourliness and best wishes, Croatia will deliver 10,000 doses of vaccines to the citizens of Montenegro very soon,” Minister Radman emphasized.
