Leader: Ill-wisher’s soft war attempts to undermine faith & create despondency-

Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in his address on June 12 to the National Congress of Tribal Martyrs in Shahr-e Kord, the capital city of Chaharmahal- Bakhtiari Province, said: These ill-wishers have taken to soft war, so it is incumbent upon all Iranians, including tribal groups and the nomads, to strengthen cultural aspects, especially through books and movies” to counter the enemy plots.

He said that through soft war the enemies seek to undermine the people’s faith and instill in them hopelessness.

The Leader’s address that was released on Tuesday cautioned: “Today, all political motives are being employed by the enemies against religion, traditions, sanctities and rituals, whether or not agent of such deeds is aware of this fact.”

He pointed out: “Among the insinuations of the ill-wishers is to create a state of despondency towards the future and the false notion that officials are unable to administer the country.”

Ayatollah Khamenei recalled the famous remarks of the Father of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini, “tribal groups are the resources of the country.”

In this regard, he took note that over the past two centuries the enemies of Iran have tried in vain to incite the tribal groups to betray the country through civil wars and secessionist tendencies, but failed.

The Leader then praised the tribal peoples, including nomads, for being among the most loyal communities in Iran, and hailed the sacrifices they had offered during the events leading to the triumph of the Islamic Revolution in 1979 and the 8-year war the US had imposed on the nascent Islamic Republic through Saddam of the repressive Ba’th minority regime of Iraq.

He said: “The most important factor contributing to the people’s unity, progress, and sacrifices, especially of the tribal peoples, is their unflinching faith in religious values.”

Ayatollah Khamenei concluded: “At a time when some irreligious elements are attempting to downplay the religious motives of the martyrs and the war veterans, it is incumbent upon us to emphasize their devotion to God and religion.”
