Kosovo Kurti’s ban on Serbia’s elections aims to harm me and SNS, Vucic says – Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic accused on Wednesday Albin Kurti of banning the Serbs from voting in Kosovo in the April 3 elections to humiliate them and reduce the number of votes for him and his ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS).

Speaking to the pro-regime Pink TV, Vucic said the Serb side accepted that „the liaison officer communicates with Kosovo’s Government, but not Serbia’s Government since that would mean de facto recognition“ of Kosovo as an independent state.

„It’s not only about the April 3 elections; the intention is to humiliate the Serbs. It’s Kurti’s pragmatic decision to reduce the number of votes for me and my list. It is worrying that the world was ready to turn a blind eye to the lack of constructive approach and Albin Kurti’s move, which provokes instability and a problem in the region,“ Vucic said.

He added he had cancelled several pre-planned campaign rallies. „It’s senseless to put the party’s duties before those of the head of state.“

On Tuesday night, after meeting with a Kosovo Serb delegation in Belgrade, Vucic said they threatened to quit all the institutions they had officials in unless Pristina allowed them to vote on April 3.

He expected the Quint ambassadors to condemn Pristina’s behaviour, adding that the Russian ambassador said he fully understood Belgrade’s views.
